  It sounds like you are probably doing the right thing, but without a LOT more information, it will be impossible to diagnose:
- What version of Scope SW?
- What version of LabView?
- Have you used LabView before?
- Have you done scope programming before?
- What are the error messages?
- Are you using IOLibs? If so, does it see the scope? Can you send commands and get results using it?

  The short answer is to do what you understand and what works. If you can send SCPI commands and receive data back, then don't use the IVI drivers. I have had problems with IVI drivers on multiple projects in multiple languages, so I never use them anymore. You should, in any case, make sure you have the latest IVI drivers.

This won't necessarily fix anything, but you should load the latest Infiniium SW, Version 5.50.0021.
